The Voice Africa’s Future was officially launched in Ethiopia by the African Monitor’s local partner, Talent Youth Association, on Thursday 04 April 2013, at Radisson Blu Hotel.
More than 70 people coming from various backgrounds, including disability organizations; youth led NGOs, representative from different Universities, media and celebrities, attended the launch ceremony.
The key note speaker was Mr. Costantinos Berhe (Phd) who is the Lead Facilitator of the Ethiopia MDG report and spoke on the synopsis of the findings from the review process and the various consultations held. He talked on the general findings with greater emphasis on the youth consultation that was held a while ago.
The Youth Mobile Platform was officially launched by Munit Mesfin, a renowned singer in Ethiopia, who sent the first sms and shared her vision for Africa’s post 2015. She spoke to the participants on what she aspires to see in Africa.
Talent Youth Association had interviews with different print and electronic media. Two brief notes in Amharic for media consumption were prepared. One focused on why it is important for youth to voice their aspiration in development such as the MDGs and the second one on the Voice Africa's Future project objective and expected outcomes.
Talent Youth Association team gave an interview to various media, including 97.1 FM which transmits programs throughout the country for their youth program possibly to be aired next on 13th of April 2013. FM 96.3 (which transmits programs in Addis Abeba and its environs with in 100 KM radius) reported the program in the hourly news, on Thursday 04 April starting from 8 pm up until mid night when the program ends. It was also in the 9pm news of the Addis Abeba TV one of the two TV channels in Ethiopia. The campaign launch is also expected to feature in the weekend newspapers.
