African Monitor launched in the UK

The African Monitor held its UK launch in London on the 3 October 2006. Set against the backdrop of Black History Month, the launch was targeted at Diaspora leaders in the UK and elsewhere, as well as the international partners of the African Monitor.

Launching the African Monitor in the United Kingdom is a critical milestone in the life of the AM. It is a consolidation of the African Monitor’s vision - to let African voices to speak out for effective action on Africa’s development!

“African Diaspora Civil Society Leaders & International Partners meet to discuss accelerating development in Africa & to Launch the African Monitor”

Set against the backdrop of the UN High-Level meeting on Migration and Development in September and in commemoration of the October celebrations of “Black History Month” in the UK, leaders of African Diaspora organisations in the UK , wider Europe and the US will gather in London at the first ever African Diaspora Leadership Forum and to launch the African Monitor.


Summary of the London Launch

The African Monitor will host an evening reception launching the African Monitor in the United Kingdom. The reception will take place at 6pm on 3rd October 2006 at the River Room, Glaziers Hall, London Bridge, SE1 9DD. The UK Secretary of State for International Development, Rt Hon Hilary Ben has been invited to speak at the beginning of this event.
